Weddings · Dorset & Hampshire

A wedding pianist for Dorset and Hampshire.

I have a repertoire that runs from the classic wedding staples to my own adaptations of modern pop songs. I also take requests from the couple, so any song that matters to you can be altered to fit your day.

The day

Through the day

I've played a ceremony at Highcliffe Castle and perform solo piano regularly in concerts. The job on a wedding day isn't to perform at a room. It's to watch it, and land the right piece at the right moment.

Guests arriving

Twenty to thirty minutes of quiet piano while everyone finds a seat and settles.

The processional

Your entrance, timed to you rather than to the music. I'll keep playing until you're ready.

Signing the register

Something warm to fill the pause while photographs are taken.

Confetti and exit

A recessional to walk out to, and playing as your guests follow you outside.

Drinks and photographs

Uplifting background piano through the reception while you and your guests celebrate.

The wedding meal

Gentle piano under conversation and speeches, at a volume that lets a table hear each other.

Before you book

I play the piano at your venue rather than bringing an instrument, so I can only take bookings where an acoustic or digital piano is available. Most wedding venues in Dorset either have one or can hire one in for the day. It's worth asking them early, because it's the one thing that decides whether I can play.

Questions

Common questions

Do you bring your own piano?

No. I play the piano at your venue, so I can only take bookings where an acoustic or digital piano is available. Most wedding venues either have one already or can hire one in for the day.

Can you learn a song that isn't in your repertoire?

Yes, and it's one of my favourite parts of the job. I play by ear and write my own arrangements, so a song with no piano sheet music is no obstacle. One couple asked for Life is a Highway; I adapted it for their day.

How far do you travel?

I'm based in Dorset and play throughout Dorset and Hampshire: Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Dorchester, Weymouth, the New Forest, Winchester and Southampton among them. Further afield, just ask.

What does a wedding pianist cost in Dorset?

Mine run from £250 for the wedding meal or reception alone, £400 for the ceremony, £450 for the ceremony and reception together, and £550 for ceremony, reception and meal.

How far ahead should we book?

Summer Saturdays go first, so as early as you can. That said, it's always worth asking about a date at short notice. Send it over and I'll tell you straight away whether I'm free.

Can you play outdoors?

Only if there's a piano out there and it's protected from the weather. Otherwise an indoor ceremony room is the safer plan, and a venue piano is the deciding factor either way.

I'll come back to you with whether I'm free and what I'd suggest for the day.
